The Path

I climb the path
that takes me to
your heart;
through the ferns
& green, I search.

I kissed your mouth
when I found you
standing on the crest;
waiting for me to
give you what you need.

You took my hand
& lead me to your love.
What do I give you;
don't make me need you.
What do you want from me;
Don't make me want you.
I climb.

Through the wild
I kissed your face.
What do I need from you;
I search.
Don't make me climb.
I'm not what you need,
don't make me bleed.

It's too late;
I reached to you for more
& you extended your hand, open.
I kissed your mouth
& was on my knees.
I climbed the path to you.
You took my hand
& you took my heart -
through the forest
& over the rocks
you made me want you.

I see you & hold
my breath for more.
I swallow you & taste
your sweet breath -
I don't hold back.

I crawl through this
ache of love & desire,
through the soil & dirt -
it's what I need.
